I am interested in IV vitamins, what are some documents I need to prepare prior to the appointment?

If you're interested in IV vitamin therapy and preparing for your appointment, be prepared to provide a comprehensive medical history, including any past or present medical conditions, surgeries, allergies, medications (including supplements and vitamins), and any relevant family medical history. It would also be helpful to make a list of all medications, supplements, and vitamins you are currently taking, including their dosages and frequencies. To qualify for same-day IV therapy following your initial consultation, please ensure that you bring recent blood test results, dated within the last 12 months, to your appointment. This information will help your healthcare provider assess potential interactions with IV vitamins.

I have back pain, who should I see?

If you are dealing with muscle soreness & tension or looking to relax & destress, a massage therapist might be your ideal option.

On the other hand, if you are unsure about the cause of your pain. An initial assessment with a chiropractor may be more suitable. Doctors of chiropractic are trained to evaluate, diagnose, recommend and deliver a treatment plan that manages issues of the spine, muscle, joint and related nervous system. Your chiropractor may provide education, radiology (x-rays), pain management, prescribed exercises and rehabiliation. Other techniques include soft tissue therapy, manual release techniques, instrument assisted soft tissue, kinesology taping, LASER, and neurofunctional acupuncture.

Additionally, athletic therapists specialize in the prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal injuries, particularly those related to physical activity and sports. If your lower back pain is preventing you from participating in sports or physical activities, an athletic therapist can help you safely return to your desired level of activity. They will work with you to gradually progress your rehabilitation program and ensure that you can resume your normal activities without exacerbating your symptoms.

I would like custom orthotics, what are the next steps?

If you're interested in getting custom orthotics and wish to pursue this through a chiropractor, your first step would be to schedule an appointment under ‘Custom Orthotics’ with our chiropractor Dr. David Tam. During your initial consultation, the chiropractor will conduct a thorough assessment of your feet, lower limbs, and overall posture. Based on the information gathered during your assessment and any diagnostic tests or measurements taken, the chiropractor will design custom orthotics that address your individual needs and provide optimal support and alignment for your feet and lower limbs.

Once your custom orthotics are ready, the front desk staff will give you a call and you will return to the chiropractor's office for a fitting appointment. The chiropractor will ensure that the orthotics fit properly and comfortably in your shoes. They may make any necessary adjustments to ensure a perfect fit and optimal support.

If you have health insurance coverage, check with your insurance provider to determine whether the custom orthotics are covered under your plan. Provide any necessary documentation, such as the prescription, biomechanical & gait assessment, lab manufacturing invoice and receipts, to facilitate the insurance claim process. Please note that we do not directly bill your insurance provider for custom orthotics.

I am referred to this clinic for IV Iron, what can I expect?

If you've been referred to our clinic for an iron intravenous (IV) infusion, you will need to book an initial IV consultation with our nurse practitioner, Angena. During your initial consultation, we ask that you provide a blood test report from within the past half a year to show that your ferritin or iron levels are low. This appointment is necessary to ensure that an iron infusion is safe and appropriate for you. While not obligatory, you have the option to obtain a prescription for iron from a medical doctor or a nurse practitioner and bring in your own iron from the pharmacy. The nurse practitioner may deny further treatment if she deems that there may be risk of adverse events.

If the nurse practitioner deems that an iron infusion is appropriate for you, the nurse practitioner will start an IV line, usually in your arm or hand. Throughout the infusion, the healthcare provider will monitor your vital signs, such as blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels, to ensure your safety and comfort. They will also observe for any signs of adverse reactions.

After the infusion is complete, the healthcare provider will ensure that the procedure went well and they will also provide you with instructions for post-infusion care and any follow-up appointments or monitoring that may be necessary.

Overall, the iron IV infusion process is typically straightforward and well-tolerated by most individuals. If you have any questions or concerns about the procedure, don't hesitate to discuss them with your healthcare provider before or during your appointment.

I don’t have any health problems right now, how can I benefit from your services?

If you don't have any specific health concerns but are interested in gaining a deeper understanding of your overall health and well-being, scheduling a naturopathy appointment could be beneficial. Naturopaths focus on holistic approaches to health, considering factors such as nutrition, lifestyle, and stress management to promote wellness.

During a naturopathy appointment, you can expect a comprehensive assessment of your health status, including discussions about your diet, exercise habits, sleep patterns, and any potential areas for improvement. The naturopath may also recommend lifestyle modifications, dietary changes, nutritional supplements, or other natural therapies to help you maintain optimal health and potentially identify any underlying imbalances before they develop into more significant issues.

Even if you feel like you don't have any health problems, there may be underlying issues that you're unaware of. For instance, a chiropractor can conduct an assessment to determine if there are any misalignments or dysfunctions in your musculoskeletal system that could potentially lead to problems in the future.

Regular visits to a chiropractor can help maintain proper alignment of the spine and joints, which may contribute to overall well-being and prevent future health issues. If you have specific health goals such as improving posture, reducing pain, or enhancing athletic performance, a chiropractor may be able to help you achieve those goals through personalized treatment plans.

Is my IV services covered by OHIP or private insurance?

IV therapy is generally not covered by OHIP. However, if you have naturopathic coverage from your private health insurance, there's a possibility that IV therapy services provided by a licensed naturopathic doctor (ND) may be covered under their policy. Naturopathic coverage typically includes services offered by naturopathic doctors, which may encompass a range of naturopathic treatments, including IV therapy.

However, coverage for IV therapy provided by a naturopathic doctor will depend on the specific terms and conditions of the patient's insurance policy. It's essential that you review your insurance plan documents or contact your insurance provider directly to determine whether IV therapy administered by a naturopathic doctor is covered, and if so, to what extent.

What is the difference between custom orthotics and measured to size compression stockings here vs generic online stores (Amazon, etc)

The difference between acquiring custom orthotics and compression stockings at a clinic versus purchasing them on Amazon lies in several key aspects:

  • At a clinic, custom orthotics and compression stockings are tailored to your specific needs and measurements. They are custom-made to address your individual foot structure, gait, and any specific conditions you may have. Products purchased on Amazon are generally not custom-made for your unique needs. While there may be a variety of sizes available, they may not provide the same level of customization and personalized fit as those obtained from a clinic.
  • Orthotics and compression stockings obtained from a clinic often use high-quality materials and are designed to meet medical standards. They are typically made to last and provide effective support and relief. The quality and materials of products purchased on Amazon can vary widely depending on the manufacturer and seller. While there may be reputable brands available, there is also the risk of purchasing lower-quality products that may not offer the same level of support or durability.
  • When obtaining orthotics and compression stockings at a clinic, you have the advantage of receiving professional guidance from healthcare providers, such as chiropractors, orthotists, or certified fitters. They can assess your needs, provide recommendations, and ensure proper fitting and usage. Purchasing products online may not provide the same level of professional guidance and expertise.
  • Depending on your healthcare coverage, custom orthotics and compression stockings obtained from a clinic may be partially or fully covered by insurance. Your healthcare provider can help you navigate insurance coverage and reimbursement options. Purchases made on Amazon are typically not eligible for insurance coverage, and you would be responsible for the full cost out of pocket.

Why is my IV and Injections cost separated?

We separate the costs to help those with extended healthcare benefits, so that the injection service fee may be covered under naturopathic coverage. Additionally, the custom bag that is prescribed to you may vary in cost.

I have a WSIB claim (or I would like to start one), what are my next steps?

If you are seeking the musculoskeletal program of care under WSIB and already have a claim number, you are able to start a plan of treatment by booking an appointment with our chiropractor, Dr. David Tam, for an initial assessment.

If you do not have a claim number, you will need to have 3 forms filled out to initiate the musculoskeletal plan of care, which can all be found online. The employee will need to fill out Form 6, the employer will need to fill out Form 7, and the healthcare provider (a medical doctor or chiropractor) will need to fill out Form 8. You may also see your employer for more details regarding these forms. Once these forms have been submitted to WSIB, they will then review these forms and the overall case, and provide you with a claim number if approved. After receiving an active claim number, you will be able to book an initial assessment with Dr. David Tam.

Why is there HST on my bill?

While massage therapy is a regulated health profession in Ontario. The determination of whether a service is or is not taxed is made within the Excise Tax Act and its Schedules and Regulations as administered by the Canada Revenue Agency and the Canadian Minister of Finance. The Act’s Schedules and Regulations clearly outline which services are exempt and although many health services are listed among the exemptions, massage therapy & athletic therapy is not among them. Therefore as a clinic, we will have to add tax on top of the listed fee schedule.
